Some people may say that to have a good deck you need to use a deck based on a single arch type. That isn't the only way though.
Why is it the most common or most used.
Because they work. That's the simple reason why people use them.
So, what makes them work?
What's makes them work is they have one main goal. When your deck is built around one main goal it'll work more than a deck that has 3 back up goals.
Six Samurai work well because no matter what you draw, you can always bring out your stronger monsters. There goal is to swarm the field and take you out fast.
Chaos Dragons work because they put dragons in the grave. But there goal is to swarm the field and overpower everything you can summon.
So my point is, you don't need a arch type to have a powerful deck. All you need is a main goal. But remember, all of our cards need to work together to achieve that goal.
A good way to make a good deck is by mix matching cards that have a similir goal.
Go ahead and try to make a good deck that doesn't have a arch type in it, use it and get use to it. The better you are at building the better you are at dueling.
